Community Guidelines
If you're in danger or someone is at risk, tell an adult you trust, and in an emergency call 112 or 999. Young people can talk to Childline free on 1800 66 66 66 (or text 50101). Suspected child sexual abuse material can be reported to Hotline.ie.
Be sound
- No bullying or harassment. Don't threaten, follow, mock or keep messaging someone who doesn't want it.
- No hate. No slurs, and no attacks on anyone's race, ethnicity, nationality, membership of the Traveller community, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
- Nothing sexual. No sexual messages, names or behaviour. Never anything sexual involving, or directed at, anyone under 18: we report it to the Gardaí.
- Keep personal details private. Don't ask for or share real names, addresses, schools, phone numbers, social media, photos or where someone lives. Don't try to move people to other apps.
- No scams or spam. No fake giveaways, links, begging for gifts, or flooding chat.
- No pretending. Don't pose as Dub Life staff, moderators, the Gardaí or another player.
- Fair play. Don't cheat, use bugs to spoil the game for others, or run scripts and bots. If you find a bug, tell us.
- Names and handles must follow these rules too.
Looking after yourself
- Block anyone: you won't see each other, and they can't message, wave, send money or join you. They aren't told.
- Mute someone to hide their chat.
- Report someone from their card (tap them in the game). Moderators see what they said in chat. Reports are private.
- Only friends (you've both said yes) can join you, see if you're online or visit your gaff. You can turn joining off, and limit messages to friends, in the phone's Settings.
- Players under 16 play in a safer mode: chat uses ready-made phrases, there are no private messages, and only friends can find them.
What happens if the rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is: a warning, a mute (no chat for a while), a temporary ban, or a permanent ban. Some things (threats, anything sexual involving children) mean an immediate permanent ban and may be reported to the Gardaí. Several players reporting someone can mute them automatically for an hour while a moderator looks.
If you're banned or muted, the game tells you why and for how long. If you think we got it wrong, email [email protected] with your @handle and we'll review it.
